Population of Manipuri (Meitei) in Barak Valley
According to census of 1851 the population of Meitei (Manipuri) in Cachar District was 10,723 (out of 85,822). And in 1971 the population was 72,290. And in the census of 2001 the population rises into 1,00,635 (total population of Barak Velley Cachar, Karimgnaj & Hailakandi was 29,95,769 in 1971) whereas the total population of Manipuri in Assam was 1,54,059 (Census 2001).
According to census of 2011 the total population of Meitei (Manipuri) in Assam was 1,68,133. In Barak Valley district wise population of the Meiteis in Cachar was 1,05,254; in Karimganj 8,883 and in Hailakandi it was 12,637.
